The Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) is a standardized exam designed to assess competencies in areas important for success in pharmacy school and a career as an pharmacist. The exam covers four content areas: Biological Processes, Chemical Processes, Critical Reading and Quantitative Reasoning. It also has a writing section. About two-thirds of pharmacy schools require the PCAT, although Purdue University College of Pharmacy does not.
A fundamental way to begin to prepare for the PCAT is to review the concepts covered on the PCAT exam as described on the PCAT website. As you are reviewing the concepts, ask yourself if you are familiar with them. You should prepare intensively by reviewing material in commercial PCAT prep books or from the PCAT web site.
For more information on registering and preparing for the exam, please consult the PCAT website.
